Welcome to my Midlife Fitness & Lifestyle Class.

What is included in this class?

Exercise is such an important factor to making your menopause a more positive experience.  Over 8 weeks, each 1 hour class will be 45 minutes of menopause-specific exercise and 15 minutes of learning and discussion on the following menopause topics:

•       Setting a positive menopause mindset

•       Definitions of menopause

•       Menopausal hormones

•       Affect of menopause on Bone, Brain, Heart, Breast, Body shape, Pelvic Health, Sexual Health

•       Weight management – why around the middle and why does it matter?

•       Lifestyle strategies:

•       Stress resilience

•       Sleep/rest

•       Exercise

•       Nutrition

•        Big Rocks for midlife women – what can we control?

How is this class different to other exercise classes?

This is a specialised class where you can feel comfortable with talking about menopause and your symptoms eg. if you get hot flushes while exercising, have pelvic floor issues that inhibits certain exercises you can do, if you are tired due to sleep disturbance arising from your menopausal symptoms and you need to take more breaks.  It is an exercise class where there is no performance needed. Where you can feel totally at ease to move and explore your menopause in a safe and supported environment. You can come as you are and be yourself. This is your time to give your fitness and health the attention you deserve at this new phase of life.

I have been a Personal Trainer for 13 years. My main area of interest is supporting women at all stages to lead a healthier and more fulfilling life through exercise, nutrition and lifestyle. In 2021 I completed a 3rd Age Peri- to Post-Menopause Certification from Burrell Education, UK - a global leader in Women’s Wellness Education. I am 47 and entering into this stage of life myself and wanted to understand this important, and little known, phase of life and help women to navigate their way through it. I have 2 daughters, run a busy PT business and recently opened a wellness studio so I understand how the pressures of daily life can be overwhelming even without dealing with menopausal symptoms. By taking time out to assess what supports one needs to cope and to have a better life experience is very important. That is why I have put together this specialised fitness and health class.

Class details:

New 8 week course starting May 3rd until June 21st. Every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30pm.

Where: SoulMoves Studio, 66 Slí Gheal, Ballymoneen Road, Knocknacarra, Galway

Relevance: This class is suitable for women who:

  • are approaching menopause and would like to set up good lifestyle habits to prepare for a positive menopause experience

  • are experiencing menopausal symptoms and would like to change their lifestyle habits to support their symptoms

  • are post-menopausal and would like to improve their lifestyle habits to help protect their bodies against the affects of the reduction of oestrogen and other supportive hormones.

  • are uncomfortable in a normal exercise class setting due to the uncertainty of menopausal symptoms

Class numbers will be kept small for a more personalised service.
